HOME KIT GUIDE
Hello there! Thank you for purchasing our Glass Decal Home Kit! :)
Ready to start the glass decal workshop in the comfort of your home? This is the instruction guide! We suggest reading through the instructions once before starting to roughly understand how the activity works and the tools you will need :)
You will be decorating your glass cups with the decals provided! The illustration decals are seasonal and exclusive to the home kit only. After decorating your cups, you will need to wrap the glasses back up in the original bubble wrap and box and send them back to us for firing.
The firing process will take about 1-1.5 months from the date you send the cups back to us. Once the cups are fired, the decals will be permanently stuck on the glasses. It will be scratch-proof and you can use it like a normal cup! Do take note that the cups are NOT dishwasher, oven or microwave safe. There will be a care card sent together with your finished product, do read it before you start using your cups!
After the firing process, do expect some imperfections such as dots, lines, scratches. This may be caused by improper application or firing position in the kiln. The coloured decals will also appear more muted, not as vibrant as the original colours.

PREPARATION
The glass decal home kit should contain:
- 2 wine glasses (wrapped in bubble wrap)*
- 2 tweezers**
- 2 squeegees**
- 2 pieces of illustration decals
- 1 set of coloured decals
- 2 pieces of tracing paper
- 1 polymailer*
- 1 postage label*
You will need to also prepare:
- Scissors/penknife
- Pencils
- A small cup of water**
- Tissue paper*

*Please DO NOT throw or damage the home kit box, bubble wraps, polymailer and postage label! You will need these to send your glasses back to us for the firing process.
**These tools will only be needed for PART 2 onwards.
PART 1. CHOOSE AND CUT YOUR DECALS
There are 2 types of decals - the illustrations and coloured decals. For the pink background around the illustrations, you DO NOT need to cut if off because the firing process will burn it all off. For the coloured decals, feel free to cut out any shapes you'd like. You can also utilise the tracing papers provided. Watch the video below for a closer look at the decal types and a demonstration on how to use the tracing papers!
IMPORTANT: You can layer a maximum of 2 LAYERS ONLY, illustration on colour, colour on colour or illustration on illustration. Layering more than 2 decals on top of each other will increase the chances of imperfections after the firing process!

PART 2. PASTING THE DECALS ON THE GLASS
Now comes the application part! As mentioned in the preparation part, you will need your squeegee, tweezer, and a small cup of water. For the wine glass, you can apply decals onto the stem and base of the glass as well. Watch the video below to learn how to apply the decals onto the glass!
IMPORTANT: Smoothen the decals as much as possible by removing the moisture and air bubbles. Moisture and air bubbles will increase the chances of imperfections after the firing process!
Decals must only be pasted on the OUTSIDE of the cup. You can also paste decals on the stem, base and bottom of the wine cup.
If there are any folds, little bubbles that you cannot get rid of, we suggest taking out the decal and reapplying. For the illustrations decals, as long as there are no creases on the BLACK PARTS of the decal, all's good! The pink parts will be burnt off during the firing.

PART 3. COMPLETION OF CUP AND MAILING TO OUR STUDIO

FAQ:
1. I placed an illustration decal over a white decal, and it has a pink tint to it. Is this normal?
- Yes it is normal! The pink tint will disappear after the firing process.

2. There are wavy lines on my illustration decals. Are those considered air bubbles?
- No, you can ignore the wavy lines! Air bubbles will appear as dots/patches.

3. I have some folds on my decals after pasting them, is it ok?
- For the coloured decals, try to get the folds smoothened out! For the illustration decals, as long as the folds are NOT on the black lines, you can ignore them.

4. Is it possible to paste a decal on a curved area of the cup?
- It is possible to smoothen the decals out on curves! However, for curvier sections such as the stem of the wine cup, it does get very tedious to smoothen out. Hence, we recommend avoiding larger sized decals for those spaces!
5. Can I paste colour over illustration?
- You can (max. 2 layers). However, after firing, the colour will be blocking the illustration!
6. Can I paste on the INSIDE of the cup?
- No. All decals MUST be pasted ONLY on the outside of the cup!
7. Can I draw the decals/ on the decals?
- No. The decals are printed specially for glasses only, any ink drawn over it will be burnt away or might cause damage to the decal papers!
8. I tried to squeegee as much as possible but there are still bubbles/folds/patches..
- This happens because the decal got too dry before the bubbles/folds/patches were removed. In this case, tap a bit of water on the decal, remove it from the cup and place it back in water again for a few seconds! It will be easier to get rid of the bubbles/folds/patches when there is a little moisture underneath the decal.
